Daniel's Story
Life
Well I grew up in Plano, and have lived in the same house all my life, so I guess you can say I am an original Planoian. I graduated from Plano East Sr. High School back in 2000, and went on to CCCC. While at CCCC, I earned my Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in dance after three years transferred to Texas Woman's University. While at TWU I worked with incredible faculty and guest artists, also I was a member of the 2004-2006 Danceworks Dance Company; where along with dancing I was the video/music coordinator for the company. I graduated finally with my BA in Dance emphasis in Choreography and Dance Performance. I am a certified Power Pilates Mat Instructor and have my own dance videography business; Daniel Mabry Video Productions. Currently I am also working on my alternative teaching certification so I can teach dance in a high school. In a few years I plan to go back to grad school to earn my MFA in Dance. After I earn my MFA, I am hoping to find a local community or junior college so I may help develop and establish a dance program and curriculum or help one grow that's already been established. One of my friends told me this to cheer me up one day when I was just really depressed. Looking at it I can say that I should be proud of everytime people doubted me and didn't think that I could make it, I did. I have gotten through these couple of years getting so much crap about me wanting to dance. I have been hurt time and time again by people who I thought were my friends because they could care less or not value the thing that is the most important in my life. Also everytime I was let down because I wouldn't make the dance repertory company, I wouldn't get picked to be the mascot back in high school, or I wouldn't be choosen to do something else, it hurt but it ma...Expand for more
de me want to try harder. Everytime someone would crap all over me and screw me over I would turn around and forgive them. With all my experiences both good and bad I have learned so much about who I am, what is important to me, and how people really are. With all this I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world, and I can actually say I made it to where I am now. It brings tears to my to think that only a year ago I wouldn't have ever thought that I would be where I am today. I still might have a long way to go but in the end I will never give up, and will always try hard no matter how difficult something may be.
School
Well I graduated from Plano East Sr High, I live in the same house I grew up and have lived all my life in. I still talk to mostly all my friends from high school, and see them on a regular basis. I was the only guy in the Dance 2 class. Also in our spring dance concert I was the only one with a solo out of all the dance classes. I was President of STAND my sophmore year at Williams. I was on the WHS Speech and Debate Team. I was in Theatre all through high school, in ninth grade I was in the play, The Wiz. I tried out for mascot all through high school but always came runner up how crappy is that, however I tried out for the 2002-2003 mascot at UNT and got it just call me Scrappy the Eagle, then got screwed that summer by the squad. I was in choir in ninth grade, but now I can't even sing and keep a pitch. I guess that is about it.
College
I graduated Spring 2003 from CCCC with my Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Dance. Yeah I know it took three years but it was worth it. Transferred to Texas Woman's University where I graduated from this past December with my BA in Dance emphasis in Choreography, Performance, and Pedagogy. I also got my Power Pilates Beg. Mat certification and started my own dance videography business. Currently I'm an active independent performance artist performing throughout the metroplex.
Workplace
Currently working at Ann Tyalor Loft at Collin Creek Mall and at BBj Linens of Dallas a special events linens rental company....
