Daniel's Story
Graduated from Indiana University (Chemistry) and MBA from Kent State (1981). Married Patricia Eder. Had three children, Jennifer, Jeff, and Jason. Each born in a different State as we moved to Texas, to California and Ohio, before settling into a Chicago suburb. Every time I was offered a transfer, we took it to see another part of the country. Jenn has given us two grandsons. Each boy has given us two grand daughters.
David, who never had children, and I golfed every chance we got until his death in 1996. Now I golf with one of my kids or friends and think of him often. Being retired, I am the designated baby sitter and emergency parent.
Patricia became an R. N. and is preparing for retirement from being Office Manager for a family practicianer in Western Springs. All the grand daughters come over "to play with BooMa",as she is affectionately called.
I fondest memories are:
1. The smell in the air off Lake Michigan at our senior football-o-rama at the Whiti...Expand for more
ng stadium. It was a cold night in early August/September with Patricia by my side and now, every September, when the cold air builds and the leaves begin to change, I get a strong longing for our old friends, the stadium lights, and the the love I felt after I offered Patricia my high school jacket. September is my favorite month. Nothing else comes close.
2. In the fall of 1962, the shock I felt after David told our new friends that we were going to win the state wrestling championship the next two years. It was a seemingly excessive, arrogant statement then, but we did it, so now I guess it was a "bold" statement in the light of the famous Mohammed Ali, whom I later wrestled (another story).
3. After school in 1962, racing David home to get the white cadillac and then drive back to school and pick up some girls to "take them home". Hammond has a lot of good looking ones and I was fortunate enough to keep one.
4. The ivy on the walls always makes me feel we chose the right school.
