Life I am married to Shivani Arjuna (the former Kathryn Annabel, of Canisteo, who was my date for our senior ball, BTW) I have a son by a previous marriage (Jon, who lives in Seattle and works in computers at the U. of WA), and a stepson (Galway McCullough, who lives in NYC and works as an actor in theatre, movies, TV commercials, etc.) Childhood hunting and fishing outings with my father and brothers laid the foundation for my second career as an outdoor communicator. After graduating from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, I received a PhD in French literature from Rice University in Houston, TX. I taught French for three years at the State University of New York at Albany, then moved to Wisconsin in 1972 to teach French and English at Northland College in Ashland. I held a number of teaching and administrative positions at Northland, the last of which was Outdoor Writer in Residence from 1988-1995. My second career began in 1972, when my first magazine article, a story about a successful deer hunt, was published in Outdoor Life.
