Daniella's Story
Spent a year in Israel after high school. BA in sociology from Temple University, 1967.
Living in Israel since 1968
You knew me as Daniella Weiss (and no I am not that crazed settler from the West Bank) My name today is Daniella Ashkenazy.
I'm married with three grown children in their 40s -- two engineers (Asaf and Nadav) and a legal expert-adviser (Efrat), and five grandchildren: Itamar (20) and Yoav) (17) and Rotem (10,), Nitzan (7), and Gili (1). I live on a 13 acre hobby farm in Kfar Warburg, 40 minutes from Tel Aviv with my husband (Rafi).
I'm a bilingual freelance journalist, translator and developmental editor for academics. Write serious commentary and news analysis. lght and serious features, humor and satire, in both Hebrew and English. I've outgrown demonstratively reading Thoreau in lieu of saying the Lord's Prayer, but yes...I'm still as outspoken as ever, very much my own person but have mellowed and learned to laugh.

ed Online - a repository for almost a decade of the wildest and wackiest news stories 'hiding' in Israel's Hebrew press, a side of Israel you'll never find in the 'Washington Post'...not even the 'Jerusalem Post' (where I used to write. FYI: Google 'Daniella Ashkenazy' and 'Jerusalem Post' for some of my major features in English). For some more recent copy (commentary) I field questions on quora.com. and occasionly wrote op- eds in English in the ''Times of Israel ".
Now semi-retired, at 77 I am primarily working on my literary bucket list - "Playing Detective with Family Lore" being the first in a long list of projects - from aditional books (including a few children's book MS) to longform articles
Check out that quirky family-memoir-turned- social-history - "Playing Detective with Family Lore", published in eatly 2021... (Theres a book website with excerpts...and contact information. I won't be attending the 60th Reunion, but it would be neat to reconnect...).
