Danny Crooks:  

My name is Danny Crooks. I have been married to the girl of my dreams for 34 years. I have an amazing 32 year old son.I have been blessed to have lived the life I've had. I have been involved in the Austin music scene for close to forty years. I am retired/disabled now and all I do is a couple of benefits each year for causes I think worthy.I did one last year for LULAC(League of Latin American Citizens) with my friends Los Lonely Boys and we raised over $30,000.00. I managed and then owned one of Austin's main live music venues named Steamboat 1874. Steamboat opened in 1978 and closed at the end of 1999. Christopher Cross was the first band to play and was signed to a national recording deal there. Stevie Ray Vaughan's "In The Beginning "album was recorded there as were several more.The Gin Blossoms, Better Than Ezra, Los Lonely Boys, Fastball, Ozomatli, Presidents of the United States, Train, Sister Hazel and Leftover Salmon were some of the bands that called Steamboat home. Most got signed to record deals there. Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison performed there from time to time. For my fortieth birthday my friends came and played a show for me. Todd Rundgren, Timothy Schmidt, Joe Walsh, T.Bone Burdett, Charlie Sexton, Eric Johnson, Burton Cummings, Timbuk3 and a host of others came and played.
