Danny's Story

Hello Everyone! Let's see how corny this sounds using the "story wizard"...I'm sure I'll go back and change things later, but here it goes!... My old friends would probably remember me as a shy, quiet, semi-nerdy guy that didn't quite fit in with any of the normal "clicks". I always wanted to be a pilot, but my Mom didn't like the idea of me running off and joining the Air Force...and I later found out my vision wasn't all that great...too much cartoons! My favorite way to blow off steam is to hop on my Harley and take a nice, long ride...usually ending up at some place that has hot pizza and cold beer! I wasn't too wild in school...I vaguely remember toilet papering a certain math teacher's house. Don't ask who, I'll never tell! To prepare for a typical work day, I collect my thoughts while singing along with the radio during my 20 minute commute. A yummy white chocolate mocha from Starbucks usually helps get me going as well! As far as a heroes in my life, I would have to say my parents. My Mom and Dad have both sacrificed over the years to make sure my sister and I were well taken care of. I love them both more than you can ever imagine. It may seem kind of sad to most people, but I still live in Visalia. I went through a time where I felt I needed to move, but my close friends and family are all right here! The one person from my past that I'd most like to see again would be my closest high school pal, Brad Symons. Although we frequently got on each other's nerves, Brad was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to. And he could always find way to make me laugh when I was down. Give me a call, bro! As far as obsessions/hobbies: Playing with my yellow lab-Liberty, motorcycles, Texas hold'em, PS3/Wii...gotta love Rockband!, fantasy baseball, softball, golf, bowling...I really miss roller hockey-but my surgically repaired knee just wont cooperate!, and just chillin with friends! I guess the biggest surprise or disappointment in my life up to this point is that due to reasons beyond our control, my wife Heather and I have not yet become parents. I always thought I would be a great Dad, but I guess it's just not meant to be. I'm not much into the whole "dream home" concept, but it would be nice to have a place out in the country. If I had enough land, I would build spacious, clean, and safe kennels to house abandoned animals until loving homes can be found for them. Have you been to your local animal shelter lately?? YUK! As I mentioned above, we dont have any actually kids yet-but we treat our dogs like they are our children. What have I learned from them over the years? Patience, loyalty, and unconditional love! I miss you Misha and Kahlua! I love to see one of my college professors again, Dr Fred Schreiber at Fresno State. He took a chance and gave me the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant in the biology department during grad school. It was extremely challenging, but fun and very rewarding! I would really love to get back into teaching someday. If I won $100 millio...Expand for more
n dollars, first of all I would make sure that my parents were taken care of. Then I would probably give a bunch of it away to friends and family that have supported me over the years. I would then spend half my time creating a foundation to help with the unwanted pet population and the other half doing some major traveling! Probably starting with Australia on my Harley! I never actually joined a fraternity during my college years, too busy studying and working! I was sort of an honorary member of the Kappa Psi frat house while I was taking some summer courses at Pacific in Stockton. I will also give a shout out to the Delta Zeta girls at Fresno State...you know who you are! I am currently managing the Nike Factory Store in Tulare, CA...I know what you're thinking..."what the hell are you still doing in retail with a biology degree???"...I ask myself the same question every now and then. I would really like to get back into teaching or some sort of wildlife research. My first crush was on Heather Locklear, you know-Sammy Jo from Dynasty! Im not quite sure what she is doing now, probably dating another 80's rockstar! Style? I guess my style would be described as sort of "Charlie Harper" from Two and a Half Men. I like to wear shorts all year long with a comfortable t-shirt or button down shirt. I do like to dress to impress on occaision...yes, I own a couple of suits! I share my home with my wife, Heather, and my yellow lab, Liberty...both blondes that I love dearly, but they also like to drive me crazy! Last trophy that won was for 1st place in our Adult Roller Hockey league a few years back. I actually scored 2 goals in the championship game...watch out Wayne Gretzky! I try not look back and say "what if", but I would have probably been more decisive with respect to my academic endeavors as well as with my career choices. Think more with my heart, not my wallet! In 10 years, I just want to healthy and happy...plain and simple! My oldest friends are Eddie and Preston. We grew up together on the same street, just a few houses apart. We helped each other through the tough times and continue to do so today. Its hard to explain, but we just get each other...our views, sense of humor, those kinds of things! The fact that I actually found somebody that would commit to spending the rest of their life with me..with all of my quirks, faults, and craziness. You just dont know what you got yourself into, Heather! My 1st job was at Payless Drug Store, where I got paid $3 an hour to sell Christmas trees. It was actually kind of fun, and hey-my employee discount allowed me to buy cassettes at cost plus 10%! I have a totally gnarly Def Leppard, Bryan Adams, and Journey collection! Yes, it was the 80's! The childhood memory that I will never forget involves my buddy Preston, my Huffy bicycle, and a baseball...You'll have to ask him to elaborate, I am sworn to secrecy! Wow, that is alot of useless stuff I just typed here. Hopefully some of it slightly entertaining and informative! Take care, everyone! Danny
