Daphne's Story

I now live in Towanda, Illinois.. I was married to Richard Morrow from 1971 to 2001 until I divorced him. He passed away in July, 2006. We had three handsome sons, Sean Michael born 2/2/75, Jason Travis born 11/23/77, and Jeremy Todd born 8/31/81. I also have three beautiful granddaughters, Brooke Michele age 21, Tiffany Marie age 20, and Mary Margaret age 11. Mary is named for both of her deceased maternal grandmothers. My youngest Jeremy is playing it smart and is unmarried but still looking. Jeremy lives in Chicago and getting married next fall in 2016. My kids all live in or close to Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. I was the assistant director of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority for nineteen years and was head of security and the assistant project manager for the new terminal. I was involved for 15 yrs in all airshows including attending all pilot meetings and was show boss one year and coordinated all airline arrivals with airshow acts. while in Texas worked for Schlitterbahn (mfg. waterpark slides & etc) all over the world and here as Schlitterbahn. The mfg side of the company was going out of business. I call that my early retirement. I live halfway between Austin and San Antonio and two and 1/2 hours from Corpus Christi and the gulf. I miss my kids and grandchildren but can't think of any other place I'd rather live with all of the great weather down here. UPDATE: I lost my middle son Jason Travis, age 32 on June 19, 2010. NEW UPDATE: My husband Al passed away on 12/06/2010 from a diabetic infection on his foot and then his heart just stopped. This has been a horrible year for me. At least now I can move back to either Missouri or Illinois as soon as things get settled. We were such a good match and spent our time kidding and teasing each other, its going to be hard to get use to being alone..UPDATE: Things are moving along sorting through ten years of accumulated junk. Probate is moving along slowly but lonely without family and friends down here. Hope to be back home soon after all the snow and ice melts of course. UPDATE: Having a rough time accepting my sons death. He ...Expand for more
was such a part of me, my rock to lean on, my affectionate son who always sent me off to work with a kiss and hug and a I love you mom. Losing a child has to be the hardest thing that life can hand you to deal with. UPDATE: Finally have a probate court date the end of March, getting out of here is getting closer at last. Need to be with my friends and family. I had court yesterday and was named the administrator of the estate so now I can clean house, sell one car, and get the house ready to sell. Feel like a great weight lifted off my shoulders now. Having problems deciding where and what to do with the time I have left. I've been totally alone for the past year so would love to hare to hear from classmates to catch up on the last 45 years, did I really say or admit to 45 years? How can that be when I'm only 39 and holding, holding, holding well you get the idea. I had truly hoped to make it to the reunion but I'm still stuck here for the time being. Going to get started on house remodeling so I can come home to Il. .UPDATE: Have sold the house and am packing for move back to Illinois yeah! At last can be near friends and family again. Hope to be moved back to Bloomington/Normal by mid October. Friend of my deceased son lives in San Antonio and offered to drive me home. Staying with my oldest son and wife in Towanda, IL. now i Home at least and the drive through Missouri was beautiful with colored trees and bluffs. Even the cooler temperatures feel great. UPDATE: I have been in Illinois since end of October, 2012 and loving every minute of it cold weather, snow and all. Feels good to be among family again. I do miss having someone to go out with to dinner and movies, etc. but I am doing great. Now have my own apartment in Towanda, IL close to my oldest son and family. UPDATE: Hello I am still living in Towanda, IL. My youngest son finally married in fall of 2016. My oldest granddaughter lives in Michigan. I miss working and interacting with people. There hasn't been anyone special in my life since 2010 so it gets really lonely at times with no one to share things with but life goes on.
