Darice's Story

Life Moved to Florida in 1980. Graduated St. Leo University with a B.A. in Music and Secondary Education. Currently in Pasco County, FL. We still travel a lot. We just went on a cruise around the tip of South America this past December-it was quite interesting-definitely not somewhere I'd like to live. Pretty desolate. Summer of 2004 we went to California-visited Linda Dickter and her family. Then flew to Hawaii for a few days then to Fiji for a few more days then on to Australia and New Zealand for a month. New Zealand is gorgeous. On our way home we stayed in Tahiti for a week and then back to California to spend more time with Linda (lot's of fun) and then back home to FL just in time to start school. Went to China, Japan, Korea,Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand & HongKong summer of 05.I've always had a tremendous amt.of respect for our military, but after that trip, in my eyes they are revered.I can't imagine how they deal with the weather conditions there. We were miserable the entire time from the heat & humidity. The pollution in China was horrendous. Of course, we stopped in California & visited Linda and her family. Her kids are gorgeous. Got to spend some time with Dianne. It's amazing-we've been friends for 41 years now. However, we just don't get to spend enough ti...Expand for more
me with each other. Life gets in the way. We finally put a pool in at our home. "The Rickes Resort" is now taking reservations. It's mid Oct & the pool was 90 degrees yesterday afternoon. It's great to come home from school and relax in the pool. I still miss living in NJ after all these years. There is a sense of community up there that just does not exist here. After living here 27 years we still do not know some of our neighbors. 09 Update: Went to CA to visit Linda and her family. We had such a nice time. Her kids are growing and are so intelligent. Absolutely gorgeous kids. Dad has always wanted to visit the Panama Canal so we are going on a cruise to see it for Christmas & New Years. 2011: I have retired from the school system. I've been spending a lot of time working with the kids at church and directing the choir there. Dad turned 91 on October 8th, 2011, so I've been spending lots of time with him. I really treasure the time that we spend together. He is such a wonderful person and he makes me laugh all the time. Life goes on....2014-This past March Dad and I flew to CA, visited with Linda D. and her family for a few days. We then flew to Chile and went on a cruise from to Peru, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta and then back to LA to spend more time with Linda!
