Darla's Story
Hi guys. Is anyone else struggling with the fact that we're middle aged already? When I think back to high school it seems like yesterday! I never really stayed in touch with many of you since school, and putting a profile on here seemed kind of strange because of that - I figured if any of you wanted to get in touch with me, it would have happened by now! But, in case anyone's interested, I'll catch you up on my life. The one and only reunion I went to was our 10th! I was single then and living in Pittsburgh working as a bank officer. I married an attorney and lived in PA and I was able to quit work and be a homemaker. We had four children in five years - so that was more work than any job I'd had before! Soon after when all four were still under the age of five, my marriage kind of disintegrated overnight and I ended up back to the area. (I currently live in Uniontown - Lake Schools.) That was nine years ago! I continued being a stay-at-home mom until my kids were all in school, then I went back to Stark State and obtained a degree in legal assisting and currently work for three attorneys in at a firm in Akron. My son is now 15, a freshman, and I have three daughters, 13, 11, 9. They are amazing kids - very bright, gifted, intelligent. (Of course, I'm biased.) I haven't taken a lot of time to date seriously because of the overwhelming task of single parenting four children. Now that they're older, I would like to be in a serious relationship and maybe even remarry someday. ..nobody wants to get old alone! I sometimes run into people from school and it's always fun to catch up with people. I don't know why I never really took the time sign up as a gold member and communicate with anyone on here, but if anyone is interested in talking or catching up with me, I'd love to hear from you. I see Stu Black, Julie (Norman) Lyberger, Chris (Hadinger) Merchant pretty often. I've also run into Chris (Mace) through Green ensemble and musical theatre the last couple of years as her son Tyler and my neice Debra are both in ensemble together. My nephew was also in ensemble a couple of years ago. It was fun great that they shared my passion for singing! Although, I was a little more shy in high school than either of those two. Oh..and if anyone else was tortured by Mr. Milkovich for his tough grading scale, I let him know a couple of weeks ago that he ruined my senior year by not allowing me to make the academic team by fractions of a percentage point - even though I had made it 9th, 10th and 11th grade! It was all do to that cursed essay test after we had to do our buddied up oral speeches on presidents/vice presidents. I've harbored a grudge against him for years! He's a client of one of the attorneys I work with (actually it's Steve Mutersbaugh - he graduated a few years behind us and his sister Karen graduated in 81) - anyway, he's a Probate Attorney now. But, Mr. M. just laughed when I had it out with him and said, "It didn't hurt you, did it? I'm not visiting you in jail am I?" Well..I've pretty much wrote a book here...enough already!
