Darlene's Story

I attended Gilchrist Schools from Nov 1951 (1st grade) to June 1961. I left at the end of Sophmore year to get married & moved to a very large cattle rench on the Klamath Marsh where my husband was employed. We were there for about 1 1/2 yrs, then moved to the Springfield area where he had grown up. I've been here ever since. We separated after 14 yrs & 4 kids & I later married another local guy. We now live less than a mile from his childhood home, in Jasper. The kids went to the same school he & his brother did & even had some of the same teachers! om school for almost 6 yrs, I went back & got my GED, then an AS degree in Respiratoey Therapy. I worked in 2 local hospitals for over 30 yrs, but had to retire in 2000 due to health problems. We are both retired & love to spend time camping in Central OR. We owned a cabin & some land about 4 miles East of Lapine for almost 20 yrs, but had to give it up after being robbed one too many times. Along with my kids (I lost my oldest last summer) I have 3 grandkids & 1 great granddaughter. I have been making jewelry for about 20 yrs & also enjoy just about any craft. I would love to hear from any of my old friends from GHS!
