Darlene's Story
I left Glasgow A.F.B. in Oct 1962 when my dad retired. We moved to So. Calif. where I graduated from Lowell H.S. in June 1964. I attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah for two years and then my dad brought a business in Reno, Nv. and again we moved. I graduated from Reno Business College and lived in Reno for eleven years where I married and gave birth to one son and three daughters in seven years. I worked at Montgomery Wards in the cash cage and was the bookkeeper for our transmission shop. In 1978, we moved to Florence, Or. where we had bought a camp ground. In May 1979, we sold it and moved to Portland, Or. where we developed properties. This was one of the happiest time in life. In Oct 1983, we moved to Tempe, Az. where my sister, Shanie, lives. She graduated from Glasgow in 1962. She and her husband, a retired school teacher, have six children and fifteen grandchildren. I divorced in 1987. I have been the...Expand for more
office manager at an electrical engineering firm for the past twenty three years. It has been a great job. I will probably be here another four years. I have one son and two daughters, and eleven of the grandchildren who live here in the Phoenix Area. Another daughter with her four daughters lives in Boise, Id. My dad, 89 yrs. is in Sacramento, Ca. and is still having fun with his three T-birds. My mom died in 2007 after being bed ridden for years. My dad was the main care giver so most of my vacations since 1994 were to help them. This was a pleasure and a hardship, but my parents were such a tremedous help after my divorce, that I wanted to help. I love to read, read, and read, plus scrapbook, and watch documentaries. My sister and I have been able to some travel tours. Life has been interesting with traveling roads I did not except to travel nor do I wish to do again; but I consider myself to be very blestin life.
