My memories of East St Lous High was as a member of the band. I played in the woodwind section (clarinet then bass clarinet). I won many state high school band awards. My best friends were Pamela Hammond, Gail Knuckle, Darryl Harris, Kenneth Ulmer, and other band members. I had hopes of attending college but really did not know what I wanted to do. My sister, Sharon Moore was in the class of "67" and was the only black cheerleader on the squad, I think she was the second black female to be on the East Side cheerleading squad. I decided that I wanted to join the Air Force, a decision that was not popular with my family at the time. I left for basic trainng 30 Sept 1966.
