Darrel Merrell:  

Life Born 12/18/1932. Attended Grade School, Jr Hi and High School in Caldwell. 1951 joined the Navy and spent the first two years in the Provost Marshall Dept. at the Port Hueneme CB Base in Calif. Attached to the Honor Guard. The next two years was aboard the Minesweeper USS Competent AM-316. In late 1953 we were all around the Marshall Islands. At Bikini Island we did a survey for the first H-BOMB test that took place in 1954. From there, Japan, Korea, etc. I was discharged in 1955 and went to work for the Auto Club of So. Calif. I met a lot of Celebrities while in the Santa Monica office for 4 years. I left the Auto Club after a little over 14 years, then worked in the Pool & Spa business for 30 years until I retired. Now retired and living in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. From 1960-1964 I was the Senior Claims Adjuster of the Santa Monica Office at that time was located at 2424 Wilshire Blvd. Lawrence Welks had a 7 story bldg. erected across the street from the Auto Clu...Expand for more
