Darrell's Story

My years of high school were pretty good years,I was blessed to have friends I went to grade school with as well as meet new friend. I tried my very best to be a friend to many people. You never know what people are going through, so I pray that I was able help someone along the way. I like to thank all my friends who accepted me, I was very quiet and somewhat shy, somewhat sheltered and maybe overprotected by my parents at time. But you all as well as the teacher made school enjoyable and fun. God bless you all. I stayed in Hopkinsville until September of 1985,then I move to Ft Wayne,Indiana were I reside now. I met the love of my life here,Sandra N Trice, and five beautiful kids,Katina,Nakeya,Byram Jr,Andria, and Brandon. Sandra & I first date was 3/9/87, that's when I meet those beautiful kids.i have loved them all from the start. I don't have biological children, but I could love them anymore if I played apart of them coming into this world. People use to ask me" you don't want your own kids" my response is and always been " if I couldn't love them as if they were my own, I don't deserve children".i thank God daily for Sandra and our children. Sandra is a gift from God. It is my prayer we continue to keep God at the head of our life and we can be a blessing to as many people, that has been a blessing to us. I was ordained as a Deacon at Greater Progressive Baptist Church in 1995. I love the Lord with all my heart and I thank Him for saving my soul. I've been very blessed since I moved to ft Wayne 9/29/85 I've been without a job for only 4 days, that was the first four days I was here. My first job was at the Hilton hotel, I started out as a dishwasher, later on I became a cook, then the Lord blessed me to become a Gardmegea Chef. I was making $3.50/ ...Expand for more
hrs when I started at the Hilton, I thank God for humble beginnings, because it has keeper me grounded, From there I went to Lutheran Hospital,as a cook, I worked there for a couple of years, The Lord then move me to Northeast Juvenile Correctional Facility, there I still was a cook, but the Lord blessed me to have a very positive impact on juvenile boys. The job was very rewarding, it's nothing like being able to impact young people's lives. Our youth boys and girls need a lot of understanding, listening ear,and love. They taught me a lot and also how to appreciate my upbringing,I'm not saying they all came from difficult backgrounds, but some of them had it very bad. Every chance you get try your best to try and make a difference in someone's life. From there I'm at my present job FXI FOAMEX INNOVATION,I've been there 17yrs. So as you can see I feel God has really been good to me. I've been blessed to be married to Sandra for 28 years,5 beautiful children, and 5 grandkids. What more can I say but, ALL THE GLORY AND HONOR BELONG TO GOD !!!!!!!!!! I thank God for blessing me with great parents and siblings, being the youngest of 9 children, some would think I would be spoil, but know, I was taught to always be thankful, and never take for granted how blessed I've been. Never look down on anyone, and alway be willing to offer a kind word, because you never know your words could help change a person day or life. The Lord called home my grandmother, two brothers, and my dad since high school. Those have been very rough on me ,but God is still faithful, and He has keeper me through it all. I always tell people cherish you love one's, let them know you love them, because tomorrow is not promise. I thank God for you all,and I look forward to seeing everyone. God bless
