Darrin's Story
After graduation, I went back and forth between teaching and performing (music theatre) in Colorado and Wyoming, and back to Colorado again. While working as a performer and house manager at the Carousel Dinner Theatre in Fort Collins, Colorado, I met a beautiful actress name Gwen Davis who agreed to marry me.
After returning from a national tour of "A Christmas Carol", Gwen and I were married on New Year's Eve in 1997. For the next two years we made our home in St. Paul, Minnesota where I continued to peform at various regional theatres, work as a section leader for various choirs throughout the Twin Cities, and sing in the Chorus of...Expand for more
the Minnesota Opera.
In 2000 we moved to New York to persue bigger and better performing opportunites. However, as is the case with many small fish in a VERY big pond, we didn't enjoy the level of success we had hoped for. So, about a year after we moved to NY I returned to teaching so that we could enjoy certain material comforts such as food, clothing, and housing.
We currently live in the Hudson Valley of New York, about an hour north of New York City. We have three children -- Davis (6), Jack (3), and Sam (2). I am in my 16th year teaching, presently serving as the director of vocal music and theatre at Lakeland High School.
