Darrol's Story
Life
HereÂs a snapshot of my life to date.
Following graduation, I went to college. Then I dropped out of college to take a job as a computer operator for a company in Olympia. Got bored and decided to join the Air Force. 9 Months later I married Angela McBee (Class of 79). We have two children, Samantha and Gary. From Aug 82 through Sep 02, I served in a variety of positions including Air Force special Operations which concluded with me being 100 miles north of the Afghanistan border the night the ÂWar On Terror began. Came home and retired from the USAF and took a job with a defense contractor at Travis AFB. Three years later I took a position with the Air Force as a civilian Project Officer managing the C17 Contracted Aircrew Training Systems for the 60th Wing at Travis AFB CA.
To date I have lived in 3 states, Washington, North Carolina and California as well as two foreign countries, The Republic of the Philippines and Japan. I have traveled to more countries than I have room to list. I have visited a total of 42 states.
I have watched the Northern Lights dance on the horizon. I have seen St. ElmoÂs fire as it rolled through the fuselage of a C-130 aircraft. I have enjoyed a beer on the balcony overlooking...Expand for more
the streets of the French Quarter in New Orleans and stood at the base of a three story tall stained glass window of Elvis Presley in down town Jakarta. I have gazed upon the splendor of the golden temples of Thailand and marveled the pyramids of Giza from the back of a camel. My most favorite place in the world is Viborg Danmark and the place I would most not want to ever go again is Corlu Turkey.
I have sailed from Hawaii to San Diego on the largest war ship in the fleet with my son at my side and I just celebrated my 25th year of marriage with the love of my life. My life has been good and I look forward to spoiling my grandchildren.
My Mother retired from the Office Tavern in Chehalis after 37 years as owner operator and still lives in Centralia. My father pasted in 1986. My brothers live in Oregon. AngieÂs mom and dad as well as her brother still live in Centralia. Her dad is semi retired from preaching for the congregation of the Centralia Church of Christ. My son lives in San Diego and serves in the Navy as a photographer on board the USS Ronald Reagan. My daughter is a respiratory therapist and married an Air force aircraft engine mechanic and they are stationed at Lakenheath RAFB in the United Kingdom.
