Darryl's Story
The story of Darryl goes like this...
Promising young Riverdale High School Graduate with a guaranteed 3 year NROTC scholarship to Georgia Tech ends up with an Associates Degree in Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, from Clayton State College.
Nah...really. For the 5 years I went to college, I ended up with a 2 year degree. I had fun though. I served in the Marine Corps Reserve for about 10 years, served my country when called to active duty for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and had some great memories from those times.
My greatest memory though was in August 1990, 3 months before I was called up for Desert Storm, Richard Davis set me up on a blind date with his then girlfriend's friend, Kelly Newsome. We'd never met before and neither of us knew what to expect. Little did I know that I would be proposing to Kelly 3 months later and that we would still be married after 16 1/2 years. We got married September 19th, 1992.
We had our first and only child in 1996, Karissa. She's a daddy's girl if there ever was one and my pride and joy.

nician for a small printing and packaging supply company on the southside of Atlanta called General Paper Goods Company from 1989 until 1998. When I found it was a deadend for me, and with the help of Richard Davis' wife Ginger (Brown) Davis, I got a job with CAMA (Cable Advertising of Metro Atlanta), which is now known as Comcast Spotlight in Norcross, Georgia, part of Comcast Cable.
Our company does local advertising on several different cable systems in the Metro Atlanta area including Comcast, Charter Communications, Plantation cable in Oconee and Windstream in Dahlonega, GA. Any local ad you see on your cable station (CNN, ESPN, MTV, etc...), we are digitally streaming out of our servers. Currently, I'm a Field Technician working on the network equipment and computer servers that deliver these local ads. From WANS and LANS, from Level 3 switches to routers, from servers to workstations, I get to work on it all.
In all, it's been a great and challenging 24 (almost 25) years since high school. Not all has been easy but I've been blessed with a wonderful wife and lovely daughter. Our faith keeps us strong as a family and that's all that matters.
