Darryl's Story
Well where do I start? The best place to start is Bassett, Virginia after high school.
My first job was for my cousin at Foley & Bullock BP Station main street Bassett.
Next I moved on to work at Mitchell Ford in the parts department before moving on to
a car salesman same location. Got married 1969. Years later a went into business
as a part owner at Shelton and Kilby's Grocery just west of Bassett on Highway 57.
Went on vacation to Las Vegas in 1979. Loved Vegas so much that I moved there
in December 1979. I worked at the Sundance Hotel/casino as a blackjack and roulette
dealer and was promoted to a Pit Boss from 1980 to 1983. Got a better offer to work
on the Vegas strip at the Flamingo Hilton from 1983 to 1986. Divorced in 1987.
Still single to the present day 2013.
I got into the video production business in Vegas part time in 1987 till I built my
business up enough to go full time at producing. I was fortunate to operate
Kilby's Video Productions for 27 years. Filming all types of productions from
weddings, trade shows, award shows, sports, etc.
Now semi-retired I am editing an independent movie that I am a partner in.
I was and am the cameraman/editor.
The movie is called "Dying for Attention" a detective thriller.
My website is rjdk.net if anyone wants to check it out.
Putter and I moved from Vegas to Stuart, Virgini...Expand for more
a to take care of my mother August 2012.
I moved her out of the Blue Ridge nursing home and into our new home December 1, 2012.
At the present my mother, my little dog Putter and I are enjoying living
together in Patrick Springs. We are enjoying life so much now and
we are very blessed for our new home sweet home.
About my dog Putter and how he got his name. I have played golf since a teenager.
One morning in January 2011, I was playing golf at the Las Vegas Golf Club
my favorite Vegas course. I saw this little dog next to the 3rd tee and I walked
towards him to see if he was alright. I got 5 yards from him and he ran away.
I noticed he was really scared. I was determined to catch and help him.
Two days later he trusted me enough and I finally got my hands on him.
Someone had dropped him off in the parking lot at the golf course and left him
alone and scared. Now he is my best friend and he loves living back here
in beautiful Virginia. Putter and I traveled together last August from Vegas
to Virginia to start a new life with my now 91 year old mother.
It is so nice to be back in the area I grew up.
Looking forward to seeing some of my high school classmates.
If anyone wants to find me I will be at Fairystone Park hanging out
as I did in the 60's. Fairystone was my fav place.
We are so blessed to be living in such a beautiful area.
