Darryl's Story
In 1975, I thought graduation day was a monumental day in my life! Now I realise that my time spent in L'Anse Creuse High School was not just "a lot of fun", but actually supported and tagged along with me through my life.
LCHS is where I met my beautiful wife of 43 years - Kathleen Templin (Nicke) - another Lancer!!. We married on 23Dec75, and THAT's when life got REALLY interesting! Kathleen & I had our 1st daughter on 26Oct76 - the 1st of 6 children.
like many others in LCHS, I attended RETS electronic school down on Mt Elliot ave... - got my EE, and then I was hired by IBM.
We lived most of our married life in Michigan - Detroit, Mt Clemens and Clinton Township.
During this time, we had 5 more beautiful children. As a family we really enjoyed travelling across North America (usually by RV) - from Canada to Florida, to California and Mexico.
While working for IBM, I transferred to Lakeland Florida in 1988, and our family continued to tour the USA from coast-to-coast a few times.
I left IBM in 1992, and started working for Bell Atlantic - and this company used me to support the USA-SE region from Savannah GA to Kennedy Space Center, and all the way west from there to St. Pete/Alabama.
We then moved from Lakeland Fl. to Jacksonville Fl. in support of Bell's major clients.
In 1995, I was offered the opportunity to assist in developing ...Expand for more
and supporting Major data centers in Australia, so we accepted a "6-month" assignment in Sydney to assist Fujitsu to develop Data Center support services. After 7 years, this assignment became permanent, and we have lived in Australia since 1995. (but I had to start my own business).
As you can imagine, we wanted/needed to return to USA (both Mt Clemens and Florida) 1 to 2 times a year, and I discovered that ALL cities/destinations on the globe are "on the way" from Sydney to Detroit/Jacksonville, so, starting in 1996, we started to book round-the-world tickets and make stops in most of the prime destinations as a family (being as they were "on the way..." ;-)).
Since travelling the world with all my fam & and assisting big business for many years, I still remember my years at LCHS with great joy, and I have good memories and great fondness for many of my friends that I made/know at LCHS & Clintondale JH.
Kathleen and I are happily married for 44 years and we live on the Central Coast of Australia just north of Sydney ; We have 6 children, 10 grandkids, and we typically travel to Michigan(and more ;-)) at least once per year (but we have fam & friends at many other locations too...).
I really appreciate my years at LCHS - its part of me - no doubt!
