Darryl's Story

updated Sept 2012 Its been over 30 years. I attended the 10 year, 20 year, and 30 year Armijo Reunion. It was great to see my friends and fellow classmates. Its amazing when I look back in the years and see the changes. I look forward to future Reunions... After high school, actually 6 days after high school graduation, I reported to MCRD San Diego for recuit training. I went there 135 lbs soak-n-wet and left 155 lbs Marine. While in the Marines, I work of 2 aircrafts, the F-4 Phantom and the F/A-18 Hornet. I served as a Aviation Electronics and Electrical System Tech. I had the opportunity to visit many countries on various Unit Deployments. I experience shipboard life on 3 sea deployments. My first ship was the USS Midway while serving in VMFP-3. My second and third sea duty tour was aboard the USS Constellation while serving with VMFA-323. I enjoyed working and the life as an active duty Marines. I met interesting people and made a few good friendship during my 20 years. I retired in 2000, I got my first introduction back into the cilvilian work force working in the Technical field and then into theTechnical and Information Technology field. Although I enjoyed the civilian sector and the many people I met along the way. I miss working on jets. So in Dec 2010 I revamp my Information Tech career path and I am currently working in Kuwait on the F/A-18 aircraft. What I miss about high school? I miss the friendships, the dances and parties... Yep miss them house parties. No one can party like us back in the day. Ain't no party, like a Fairfield (Armijo) party... LOL To my friends I have not f...Expand for more
orgotten you. We live busy lives, we have different lifestyles, ideas. And to be honest its hard to keep in touch when you have see each other for years. And our relationship has changed, the bonds of friendship is not as strong as it once was...Neverless, I think of our great Friendship and Family bond from time to time. When things trouble me I look back to the high school days. And a smile comes to my face. My friends, You made my high school years so exciting and fun. You help define the person I am today. When I left home my Family and Friends were my strenght. My family and friends new and old continues to be the strenght I need. I reflect on our friendship and I truely can say you are all a blessing in my life. For this I thank you because you made my life a memorable experience. How do you hope old friends remember you? I would hope my friends remembered me as a good friend. As I stated above I had the best friendship a person would wish for. What happened to your first crush? First crush, do you mean my many crushes? Yeah some of you guys/gals know what I am talking about. LOL Since this is Classmates I have to add my Junior High School too. The answer is I am fortunate to still talk with a few old high school friends. I am happy to hear my crushes are doing fine and the ones I don't know about I hope they are doing well too. What is you most memorable time? Did you participate in sports or school activities? What do you remember about Grange Intermediate School? The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
