Updated Oct 2018 - After graduation, I was hired by IBM in July 1958 and married Rod Denison in October of that year. Our first daughter, Pamela Christine, was born at Eglin AFB, Florida, in September 1962. We moved to Mineral Wells, Texas, in late 1964 and our second daughter, Darlene Beth, was born there in January 1965. I worked as a secretary at Fort Wolters until the base was deactivated when I moved to Irving, a Dallas suburb, in 1973 as a single mother. I was rehired as a clerk-steno by IBM Dallas. I started taking college courses, sat for and passed the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) exam in 1976. I unsuccessfully remarried in 1976 and have been divorced since 1979. I continued attending college in the evenings, taking 1 or 2 courses at a time, and finally graduated with an Associates of Arts and Sciences degree in 1990 at age 50. I continued working as an IBM secretary, both as an employee and as a contractor, until I retired in April 2006. My health has been excellent except for one major, life-threatening event: a benign brain tumor called an Acoustic Neuroma for which I had surgery in May 1981.
