Dave's Story
After graduation from Crookston Central I went to University of Minnesota Moorhead for a BS in Education - Industrial Arts/Technology. Also joined the ND National Guard for 7 years - most that with the 816 Engr. Co. LE in Fargo.
After college I moved to Grand Forks and worked for the Grand Forks Public Schools for 22 years - 15 as a Industrial Arts/Vocational Education instructor at Grand Forks Central. Then 7 years as the Director of Vocational/Technical Education for the district. Also received an MS degree in Vocational Education Administration from the University of North Dakota and even tried for an EDD in Educational Administration but gave up before completion.
In 1993, as part of a mid life crisis and a real good offer, I left the education world...Expand for more
,moved to Fargo, and became the Information Technology Manager for Border States Electric Supply at the corporate headquarters. I have been there for 17 years now and it's still fun! With four years left until retirement I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - and pray it's not a train.
While in college I married Joette Riopelle, and have two grown kids and now three grand kids. I still haven't figured out when it happened but somewhere along the way I got older...
In 2015 I retired and moved to the house on Union Lake. Now I fill my time trying to give back through volunteer work like the local food shelf, Polk County Emergency Management, and being a sub at the local school. Also some good woodworking, some very bad golf, and even worse fishing.
