Dave's Story
Life In no particular order, I've been in & out of the Navy twice as an Aviation Electrician active and reserve, married & divorced once, got to jump from Naval helicopters, went through a bankruptcy (it's a national epidemic), managed an AA in Speech Communications, a BA in Geography, MA in Geography by distance learning, am presently owned by The Incomparable Thunderball, the tomcat in the photo. My life has been a debacle, but is has most certainly not been a boring one. I'm SCUBA certified, had 19 jumps from UH-1N Huey Twins and survived a bite from a brown recluse spider when I lived in St. Pete, FL. The photo is current enough.
The State of Shock, or rather California, drew me back inside of it's rubber coated interior for just over 7.5 years after attempting survival in Arizona, North Carolina, Louisiana and Florida, I wound up back in CA as a Physical Science Technician with the US Forest Service at the Riverside Fire Lab for that time. All my federal time wasn't quite 20 years, but I took an early retirement and Panthera & I (she always got star billing) moved to Hawai'i. The Empress Panthera died at approximately 0445, 1 Nov 2010 and will always be remembered. Not quite 3 weeks after Panthera died, a 4 week old orphaned orange kitten showed up, some believe guided to me by the spirit of the Empress Panthera.

into the yard. She is Mizzy Meow'i. Along with her food, she gets milk with every meal. A younger male black with grey swirls (or is that grey with black swirls) I call The Apatite, is an eat and run specialist. He eats the dry food like the rest, but the girls don't like the canned food. He's the least fussy of the four. Nigrita, around a year old all black short fur female has decided to make Thunderball's den her home. My life is a feline soap opera! If I open a butter or block of cheese and he smells it, I get Thunderball's very expressive "where's mine" look.
After reading how I was remembered, it kind of made me wonder who it was they actually remembered. The images I posted that have something burning in them are of the 2018 lava flow event, both day and night. The white flower is an orchid indigenous to my district, Puna Makai on the windward side of Hawai'i Island.
I remember more MHS grads from Freemont Junior high than I do from MHS. I also dislike their new "remembering" format. In our Senior year, our English class made a hokey video about the survivors of a nuclear war where I was unanimously voted as the mutant. At very least I haven't been type cast. My part was to barge into the room, behave "mutantly" and abduct Debbie King (the cheer leader) and bring her into the hall, where the hero rescued her. Does that silly video still exist?
