Dave's Story

Life This picture was taken in May 2006 at the graduation of my niece. I'm wearing black on the right and on the left is my "little" brother Roy. Kayla (our niece) is the daughter of Brenda. I live in Texas now and I write Horror Fiction and other novels. I have had one optioned for a movie. I know in my past I've done things I'm not proud of. I hope that others will understand that I'm a different person now and I'm sorry for my past actions. Dylan Thomas said, "You can never go home again..." That's how life is. No turning back the clock, no calling timeout. Looking back on my high school days makes me realize that a bit of me is still in the summer of '86, unwilling to leave the memories and say good bye to my youth. Unfortunately middle age is sneaking up quite fast and doesn't call timeout either. I cherish the memories and know that it may only be gossamer wishes, but I still will remember those years as the best of my life. Some of you may remember that I have a daughter (Erin Leah Ramsey) that was born in November '85. Well, she's 20 now and last year she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Piper Sienna. Yes, I'm a grandfather. I wouldn't doubt if I was the first in our class. My Dad died in 2002 and my mother lives here with me. I occasionally visit my brother in Yerington, Nevada and my sister in Las Vegas. My daughter lives in the US Army at Fort Bragg, N.C. In 1996 I moved here to Texas and other than a year up near Lake Tahoe, I've been here ever since. Eventually I plan to move to either the Pacific Northwest or New England. Interested in contacting me? I have a web page on soundclick (member name is revenantdm) that I blog on quite often and I am trying Wordpress. Soundclick is the best site for music and internet radio. Come check it out. If you read this far maybe you'll come see an old friend. Thanks. mind. Many things left undone, unsaid, and undeniably some of the best years of my life. I visited Ventura in 2005 and it was so "grown up" that many places I remember are gone now or changed so completely. I suppose after the Columbine and other school tragedies, Ventura High had to change, too. I feel it's sad in a way both for Alumnae and the students and faculty. In 1982, the school decided to close the "smoker's corner" - sure, made sense. Law was 18 to buy cigarettes and the California Legislature made it illegal to smoke or use other tobacco products on school campus. Didn't work but I hope the reforms that we all hope stop the tragedies do. I left Ventura in 1996 and moved from the Sierras to the Rockies to the West Texas Plains (OK, the last one probably was not a great choice), the point is that even if some of us didn't move on, Ventura did. Change is unavoidable and nostalgia will remember a pimple as a dimple, but we were not all that bad. Our parents thought we were out of control, but didn't their's too? I hope to return one day for a nice California Summer... but I think that the Summers will never be the same also. 2 years ahead was my sister and three behind was my brother, but we all share something with all of you. We were Cougars. We still are Cougars. And when we die, we'll be dead Cougars, but we'll still be Cougars. Workplace After discharge from the USAF, I worked in Film Sfx specializing in Monster Fx, Make-Up Fx, and Foley Artist (Sound Fx.) I began writing while in High School, was first published in 1990 in Cemetery Dance Magazine and took it up full-time in 2001. Military I served in the United States Air Force from 1987-1992. I participated in Desert Shield and in Desert Storm. That's all I can say.
