Dave's Story
Life
Greetings from sunny Saudi Arabia! Look "rhinoshaw" up on the Yippee! web site. OK, it's not really spelled that way, but you get the idea. "Home" is now in Florida; Orlando, to be semi-precise. The town is huge, and I love just about every square inch of it. My hobbies include working out and reading; neither of which do I get enough of. Since leaving MD, I have:
- Been married (9years) and divorced. No kids. Yay, me!
- Lived in Florida, Oregon, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia
- Finished a BS in Business Mgt and an MBA w/ a focus in Procurement
- Run a nuclear reactor for the US Navy, on 2 different submarines
- Developed new ways to create microprocessors
- Trained people on how to repair and maintain robots
- Converted a large city's water purification system from chlorine to ozone
- Built and launched rockets with military communications payloads
- Written contracts for a large company that included scary-huge numbers
- Supervised the construction of (and helped install) VR simulators that train our troops...Expand for more
on how to react to being under fire in a "safe" environment
- I need a new job now. Apparently, I get bored easily.
- FLASH UPDATE (5/30/06): Be careful what you wish for kiddies! I got a new job, alright! I'm now an Engineer working for Uncle Sam (as a civilian this time) and helping to train our allies in Saudi Arabia. It's a funny world, huh? So far; I'm having the time of my life, and getting paid mad money to do it! Looks like this assignment will wrap up right around the time of the Class of 1989's 20 year reunion. I'm sure that I'll have a story or two to tell...
- 6/04/07: Heh. Yup, it's now been over a year, and I have some stories to tell (and quite a few that I won't, until I've had a beer or three!) In that year, I have been to Dubai twice, Bahrain six times (a 4hr drive away), Italy, Romania, Belize, Egypt, India, and a couple of short trips back to that land that I love; the US! Folks, you really learn to appreciate the "little things" when you are away... like freedom of expression and NOT being chased by wolves...
