Dave's Story
So let's see, how do you sum up 40 years in one paragraph? Went to UW Madison and graduated with a BA in Math then got an MS in Computer Science from the Univ of Minnesota. Have worked in software engineering ever since, 5 years with Univac in Minneapolis and then the last 34 years at Johnson Controls in Milwaukee. Now the oldest duffer in the software area so I'm thinking it's about time to retire. Got married in college to my first wife, Sue. We had 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl. The oldest boy is an electrical engineer (go figure), the middle boy just got his law degree from Marquette, and the youngest girl is manager of Environmental Interpretation for the US Fish and Wildlife service at a refuge in Oregon. All three are married and the two boys each have a child so I have 2 grandkids so far. Got divorce...Expand for more
d in 1987 and remarried in 1996 to my current wife, Karen . She also has 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl about the same ages as mine, and 3 grandkids so far. So between us we have 5 that keep us busy. Karen spends a couple days a week babysitting for the grandkids and does landscape design the rest of the time. My favorite activities are outdoors - camping, kayaking, biking, hiking, you name it. Love summer outside, still can't believe I'm still in Wisconsin because I hate the cold more each year. But with the kids and grandkids it's pretty hard moving away. Looking forward to retiring in the next year and spending more time with the grandkids and biking and kayaking. Maybe some trips - would like to spend a summer driving to Alaska and then there's always Fiji. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.
