David's Story
Life
Moved to Spokane, Washington during my junior year of high school. :( Graduated from U-High 1977. Spent two years at SFCC, worked a year, three years at WSU. Graduated BS in Computer Science. Went to work for Intel in Oregon, left Intel for 6 mo. in fall of 1986 to work for a start-up, returned in spring 1987, been there ever since! Married April L. Harper, from U-High also, in 1984. We have four great kids and live on five acres west of Portland, Oregon.
We were involved in Scottish activities with my son playing snare drum in a bagpipe band and my daughters dancing competitively. Most summers were spent traveling to Highland Games somewhere in the Northwest and Canada.
We added four Nigerian dwarf goats and six chickens to our family in summer of 2006. Ben and I built a barn, a shed and a chicken coop that summer, plus fenced four pastures. We were busy! Chickens are laying 3-4 dozen a week and one goat is giving us about 1 cup of milk a day (other goats are males - 2 fixed, 1 not).
Our children are grown up now and April and I have been traveling a little. We did a Rick Steves "Best of Europe in 14 Days" tour in 2013 and returned to France for two weeks in 2015. Two of our children are married - no grand kids yet, though, thank goodness...Expand for more

School
I miss being able to connect with the people that I grew up with. I've been looking for Curtis Sebren, Greg Long, Keith Dove, Chris Spargo, Tony, Mike, and Pam Lefave (sp?), Lynell Vance, Kathy Lance... Life seemed so simple back then, compared to now. It's funny how your decisions pile up to put you where you are today.
But, Douglas High was some of the best times. Driving around Central High after our basketball team defeated theirs for the State championship was a highlight! I've never seen a school that supported their BB team the way DHS did! It was fun to turn out with everyone at the games and root for the team.
Also had some great teachers back then, Mr. Carpenter, Mr. Ackerman, Mr. and Mrs. Dunn, Mrs. Brown. I don't know how they did it?! There's no way I could handle that environment on a daily basis.
Workplace
I've been a software engineer with Intel for 32 years now (2015). Intel "has been bery, bery good to me!" I was blessed to be sent to Israel for a week in 2005 and Russia for a week in 2006. I've developed software for 17 years and have been in a technical support role for the last 15 years. This allows me to do many different things and travel, which was a nice change from sitting in a cubicle and writing code. :-}
