David's Story
Life
Happily Domestically Partnered with a great man, a crazy cat and a loving extended family. I'm incredibly lucky to be surrounded by good friends (some of them even reliable) and to have a fantastic and supportive family back home. After many years abroad, I now look forward to getting back to Nebraska and visiting the family and whichever of the old friends i can hunt down as often as I can.
School
I was definitely one serious choir nerd and band geek in high school, but I had a hell of a good time and a lot of good friends. And aside from growing up, I haven't really changed THAT much.
College
After 2 years at UNO I moved to Oklahoma City University to study music and dance, and graduated from there Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Music. In college I did a lot of great shows, made a lot of wonderful friends (and not-so-much-friends), did a lot of growing up and a lot of coming out, learned and did SOOOO much in those years and couldn't wait to move to New York at the end of it all . . .
Workplace
Well, after moving to New York and trying to make a career in the theater I learned I was way to young for t...Expand for more
he stuff I was right for, so I'd better find some ways to make money. I've finally settled into IT work at a NY Law Firm which pays well and is actually a great environment to work in. I've been at this firm for 8 years and continue to like working with these people. I've been doing cabaret shows, some NY and touring theater. In the past few year I managed to perform a couple major roles as NY City Center, which is just about as close to Broadway as you can be without actually being on Broadway (what a great house to play in), benefits benefit with a bunch of old Broadway and New York theater/music scene divas including 2-time Tony winner Helen Gallagher, Sara Rice (the original Joanna in Sweeney Todd) and Julie Wilson (who graduated from Benson High back in 1938 or something like that). I've even written a couple songs and have been nominated as a songwriter by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets, and wrote the script for a G&S Revue which played to a packed house at City Center and received excellent reviews (ok, it only received one review, but it was a rave!)
