What I’m doing now:
I joined the Civil Air Patrol, an Auxiliary of the USAF, June of 2016 and am now a Lieutenant in the Alexandria Composite Squadron. Current air crew qualifications are Scanner and Observer (co-pilot seat). They’re trying to get me to move over to the pilot seat but I’m happy in the right seat. An observer in that seat is a very busy person. The Observer handles the communication with Mission Base, ground teams, and other aircraft. They also operate the direction finding gear to locate downed aircraft. Within the squadron, I was the Deputy Commander for three years and am currently the Safety, Communications, and Aerospace Education Officer. Yup! All three.
Joined the Runestone Amateur Radio Club several years ago and upgraded my ham license to General (W0XPC--Whisky Zero X-Ray Papa Charlie).
I own a home on a couple acres surrounded by woods and many lakes. Of course there are many lakes - this is Minnesota. One cannot travel in a straight line in most directions for more than a couple miles without getting wet. The closest is Lake Carlos which is 3/4 mile to the east. I as well as a number of neighbors own either a boat or a pontoon. I can only see a couple of those neighbors’ home’s after all the leaves have fallen.
Okay, I didn’t even make a minor impact on the world. I just hope I made it a better place to live for a few more people. It has been an interesting ride so far and it won’t be too long before it’s time to get off. :-(
