David's Story

Life If you want to know my life of the first 50 years, I've written my autobiography entitled Both Sides of the Sheets, an absolute no bars held story of approximately 90,000 words and it's for sale if you contact me. I've found a new publisher, so this work is being edited again for publication. My life changes so fast I can't keep up. At 55, I'm in my fifth year of retirement, but you wouldn't know it. My most recent activity is supporting ABATE of CA and began going to Masonic meetings again. I plan on moving out of CA in a couple years to be closer to NC where my former boss and I are building a vineyard; later to be a winery. I'll be leaving Lake Elsinore as soon as the realestate market turns around, my wife graduates nursing and is licensed. Nothing to keep me in CA except the weather. Since I don't talk to anyone in my family, I won't disclose the location, but it doesn't look like NC. They are contemplating a mileage tax and voted for Obama. School School SUCKED in DHS. I was an outsider. School was great at Rowland Heights and fantastic at Palmdale High. I ran away in my junior year, to survive emotionally, from a horrible home life and no friends; returning a year later. Everyone was surprised I wasn't "a long haired motorcycle gang member, hippie on drugs". I had a much higher GPA than when I left, graduating in the top 1/8th of my class at DHS. It's amazing how much different life can be when you are treated decently by your classmates or at least acknowledged that you live. The one exception to the DHS students was Gail Gaines, the only one that took the time to get to know me in the early years and there were a few that finally befriended me weeks before I joined the Navy. College I attended, University of South Carolina at Beaufort, Chab...Expand for more
ot College, BYU and used military credits to get a Bachelor of Science of Liberal Arts with the following concentrations: Nursing, Psychology, Economics, History, Religion, and Philosophy, from the University of the State of NY; no majors. Years later, I earned doctorates in Biblical Studies, Divinity and Religous Humanities and an honorary Doctor of Divinity. Workplace First 50 years in my book: Both Sides of the Sheets. I've lived three or four lifes in my one and working on another. Not bad for a person who has died on the operating table twice! Military Joined in 1971 to get away from Duncan and family. Bootcamp-Orlando, FL, HM School-Glakes, IL, Great tour in Beaufort, SC, Neuro-psych Tech School in Oakland, Most junior COD of major hospital, as an HM2, got out for six years, reentered due to divorce in 1983, enlisted recruiter breaking records in Fullerton, CA,1984-1987, but falling on my sword in 1987 in Alhambra, CA, couldn't grasp the Asian culture. Went farming in Iowa during 1988 and built the largest rabbit farm in NW Iowa, divorce again, returned to Los Angeles for the next 11 years, breaking records as a medical officer recruiter, specializing in Dentists, dental students and Clinical Psych Interns. NRDLA was a pretty good duty station except for Navy Lts., who think/thought they were above God, and being accused of being a racist. I was a two term VP, a state lobbyist and a civil rights investigator for the NAACP and a fomer member of the SCLC. I was even the first and only "white" preacher in the area for the local "black" churches and served almost two years as an assistant pastor at Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Gotta be a racist if you are VP of a local NAACP, a member of SCLC and a preacher in a black congregation, huh?
