David's Story
Life
I was the Golf geek in School. Skipping classes most every Monday to play golf, and of course you may not remember me if you were half asleep in the am. I was out of school every day the last two years by lunch time, to play golf.
I guess it paid off...I turned pro the year I graduated and worked at Terrace Park CC and Wyoming GC to kick start my golf career. Burned out after four years and joined the military to fulfill my obligation to my country and get my head back on straight.
It was in 1980 I met my current wife, Paula and started a family. We only had the one as it turned out, but she has since blessed us with two of the greatest Grandsons who both love the game of golf too. It was 1980 I decided to get back on my golf career too, in the Atlanta Metro area as a Club Professional. I have worked and played mostly in the Southeast as a PGA member in Northeast Florida, but have competed all over the country at one level or another. In 2008, I'll become a lifetime member of the PGA, and am already pursuing playing privileges on the Champions Tour.
Back to the more important stuff now, my family. My daughter, Heather has stayed pretty close throughout, and is currently running the back end of a business I started a few years back. We organize, promote, and market all kinds of corporate activity from sales incentive programs to golf outings, and corporate Golf Schools, which I put on all around the world. The perks are great, as we spent a couple weeks in Costa Rica last year....working, while the Black Marlin were running. One day alone we caught and released half dozen Sailfish at no less than 100 pounds apiec...Expand for more
e. What a great place!!
Jacksonville, Florida has turned out to be our home after seeing and living in many neat places across the country. Paula and I have a comfortable place outside of town, in a suberb called Switzerland, along the St Johns River. Our two grandsons, Ethan(5) and Gavin(2) come to visit nearly every weekend. They love to fish off the dock out back, and play the par three course I built with synthetic greens(love that low maintenance).
I still get back to Cincinnati on occasion, even attended the 30 year class reunion. Most recently I was there for my Mothers funeral, that was a drag. I still have three brothers and a sister in Cincy, so it will always have a special place in my heart. This year all my family will be here in Florida for a reunion, I'm looking forward to having everyone here. With six brothers and three sisters along with their families, it will be quite a party.
Milford High School seems like eons ago, but I still wonder sometimes what some of those people are doing now days. The 30th class reunion has been the only one I've had the opportunity to attend. Information about happenings in Cincy are not easy being so far away. My younger brother keeps better tabs on some of my old friends, and that is where I seem to stay informed.
I hope this website closes the communication gap with some of those old friends, and I only mean that tongue in cheek. I was impressed with the success of so many of our classmates, and amazed at how they are so spread out across the country now. I look forward to hearing from some of those folks and maybe a cup of coffee or dinner as we travel through life.
