David's Story
I am retired and living in Peterborough. After taking a very long time to get out of high school (7 years) I did what I never thought I'd do.....teach!
I found University a lot easier to deal with and even managed to graduate 3 times. I'm not any smarter but apparently I know more. Maybe my time in high school made me a more sympathetic teacher....god knows I knew all the excuses for not doing the work!
I was a teacher :history, geography, phy ed etc and a coach: football, basketball and track.I became a special Ed specialist and worked with some interesting students.
For the last 20 years I was a principal......this came as a shock to anyone who had the pleasure of being in a class with me and a few old teachers. I actually hired several of my old teachers to work with me and I'm afraid they were...Expand for more
traumatized.
I was in both elementary and secondary schools as a teacher and a principal. Every age group has it's challenges.
I was very involved with sports outside of school. Fastball, golf, hockey, skiing and then slo-pitch, golf, old times's hockey and trying not to fall on my _ _ _ on snow.
I married a girll from Port Hope (Nancy) who was working in Peterborough after going to college here. We have 2 boys and one grand daughter.
I had a stroke (not the fun kind) a few year ago and have gone from not walking to a wheel chair to a walker to a cane.
I can remember most things and hardly ever drool anymore. My hockey friends have assured me that since it wouldn't affect my skating I should return to hockey!
To those who know me the "brain damage" comes as no surprise..
I like to read and travel.
