David's Story

First 3 years after school I served in the US Army. Then five years in private industry. 1974 went into law enforcement and retired January 2010. Married Sandy Reaper (DB class of 1969) had two children David Shawn 1972 and Connie Sue 1974. Watch grass grow in summer and snow fall in winter and try to get use to this computer. Who ever imaged back when we were in school. Mom and Dad moved to Delaware, Ohio after graduation. Dad got a new job there. I remember getting the letter about the move while I was station in Germany (army) Really had a strange filling when I came home. I didn't know where to go Coal Grove or Delaware. Seemed everything and everybody changed so very very much while I was away that first year. Friends had married, moved away and a few had died, music change so much, adjustment came very hard for me. . I liked solving crime and arresting the bad guys, I use to think I was not doing my job if I did not get to chase or fight with someone during my shift. That changed as I got older. having to do the same thing day after day and being outside most of the time. For a skinny Ohio River Rat Kid without college education I felt fortunate to have a job I liked,it was not bad at all Jeans button up short sleeve shirt and ball hat is what you find me in most times, other than for church. If I could go back with a due over I would not have drank, smoked, eaten food bad for me, not dated the same girl all during school and had the nerve to ask those several special girls out even if I'd been rejected, I never told any of them that I liked them. I would have worked harder on my track and field events UPDATE: 2014 December Sandy passed away June 2013 after a 7 year struggle with cancer. She passed peaceably at home in her bed with friends and family around her. I am now a newly wed with a girl from our class (65) Nancy Ross-Culyer. We married a few months ago. She was married to David Culyer from Ky. for 40 years. He passed from cancer in 2009. We are both happy and it was like marring your old friend.
