David's Story
Life
I was in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Community Hospitals Indianapolis, Fairbanks Hospital, and the Indiana Heart Hospital and in the private practice of psychiatry for 18 years following residency at IU Medical Center in Psychiatry, . I accepted a faculty position teaching psychiatry back at the Indiana University School of Medicine beginning September, 2007 and have really enjoyed teaching medical students, psychiatric residents, and taking care of patients. Interestingly, I have been medical director of a 27 bed inpatient psychiatric state hospital unit for patients with severe and persistent mental illness. ent of the Deaf. I am active in organized medicine and have been President of the Indiana Psychiatric Society 4 times and am past President of the Indianapolis Medical Society. I am now an associate professor. My latest endeavor is as medical director of consultation psychiatry at IU health University Hospital in Indianapolis and director of fellowship training in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at IU.
I have been married 35 years to Debbie, whom I met at the University of Evansville, and have two children, a daughter who is a CPA and a son who is living in Colorado Springs.
I enjoy the outdoors and hiking (especialy in the Smokies) and camping, and live in a northern suburb of Indianapolis have enjoyed traveling as well as spending time in Brown County, Indiana.
