David's Story
Life
Graduated from Mass Maritime in 1996 (Engineer). While at school sailed with the school ship to some neat places. (Barbodos, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canary Islands, Holland, Ireland, Scotland & Spain). Junior year had that opportunity to sail with an LNG company and bounced back and forth between Indonesia and Japan for a couple months.
Went to work straight out of school for GE as an international field engineer in the power systems division. Bounced all around the US and spent a fair bit of time in Saudi Arabia, Argentina, England and Italy.
Met my wife Amy while with GE, and as the song goes "the road ain't no place to start a family". We were married and lived in Saratoga Springs NY for a while, a great place if you have never been (J.Fuller, M. Masone were in the wedding ... P.Staffier, J.Wood & C.Pare were there at the wedding to celebrate with us).
After getting off the road (Summer 2001) we relocated to take a job at GE Power Systems headquarters in Atlanta GA. It was a fun place for a short stint ( ~ 1 year). Lots of great friend there.
In 2002 we relocated to Savannah GA, took a job with a SEast Utility whom I still work for toda...Expand for more
y. Savannah was fantastic, particularly for a young couple without child. Lots of fun ... lots of laughs.
In 2003, we relocated to Sarasota FL, where we still reside today. It's a wonderful place, and particularly a wonderful place to raise a family. My little buddy Damon was born March 31 2004 (Same birthday as my sister Christine), and life has never been the same since. He's a dynamite kid with a great personality, and all joys experienced pre-D pale in comparison.
We were blessed with our second child Aaron on 9/25/2007. He's been a happy content little guy who smiles more than any baby I've ever encountered and has got a great big brother who is a good little helper and loves to make his little brother laugh.
In December 2007 I finished up my MBA program with USF. While rewarding and a very good experience I have come away damn sure that I've seen the last final exam of this lifetime.
Otherwise, the Fernandes family are having fun, enjoying life, and are running fast to keep up with the daily balances as we all seem to be these days.
Hope you all are having a wonderful life ... See you at the 15th or 20th re-union ... Hopefully.
Dave
