David's Story

After high school went on and became a certified machinist and started a family. Decided to get away from the greases and oils of the trade and to change careers and became an electronics technician and soon after decided I needed to be more creative; so, I went on to college nights while supporting my family and after 6+ years graduated summa cum laude. Recognized for my achievements with Dean's List, Who's Who, and Oustanding Young Men of America. Started my new career as an electonic / electrical design engineer and have been for the past 34 years. During the course of my career I became manager for the engineering department and labs with a decent staff. Also traveled most of the U.S. and overseas for customer training on machines and systems I had designed. I have 2 wonderful daughters and 3 granchildren by my oldest. My oldest daughter, Regina, was a radiologist and ended up marrying a pediatrition. My youngest daughter, Heather, lived in a tent in the Arizona desert with the indians for one summer teaching indian children. She also worked in the U.S. senate as an aide for Senator Dodd for a while, before law school. She attended Temple University and studied in Rome Italy for one summer. She graduated with her juris doctor degree and is currently a sucessful lawyer in Philadelhia. I was a local Jaycee for a few years and the year I was president I was the first president to change our by laws to allow women as members. Also presented a bill to the CT legislative and got it pas...Expand for more
sed to allow helping animals, that aid crippled and handicapped persons on public transportation and into public buildings as for seeing eye dogs. My chapter got one such dog and the months of required training and bording for one teenager in our town.During my tenure as president I was awarded by both the Connecticut Jaycees and United States Jaycees on numerous occasions and am a Connecticut Jaycee Senator. I have varied interests from fishing, hunting, golf, dining out, working around my property, and I used to build and race stock cars in the past(3). I have lived in Colchester for 32+ years now. There were more cattle than people in town when I first moved here; now, it's the other way around.I used to attend Nascar Winston cup and Sprint cup stock car races regularly; but I have gotten away from that for a while and I am content to watch a race on a screen now. Right now I am considering retiring and enjoying life more. I enjoy relaxing for a week in Misquamicut every July. Also hoping to restore some old relationships / friendships with my friends from SHS. I decided to join classmates for that reason and hope to reconnect with at least some of my old friends hrough here. I must admit that I'm a little surprised at how few people from our class are listed as members. It's tough enough to keep up contacts with all of our busy lives and it seems that classmates helps to make it a liitle easier to keep up. Hoping life has been good to you all and I hope to hear from you.
