David's Story
On June 27, 1960 I joined the US Navy thinking that the whole world as I knew it was behind me. Much to my surprise I met up with my good friend from school John Arnold. We both attended the Electronics Technician School in Great Lakes, IL and were later assigned to different ships on the East Coast. When I last heard from John he was in Texas and I was in Utah.
After my tour of duty I married my wife Carol and we moved to California. While working, and going to school we started raising a family. After six years and three children we moved to Provo, Utah where I complete my bachelors degree while attending Brigham Young University.
After BYU I started working for Farmers Insurance as an adjuster and later started my own insurance agency with the same company and also sold real estate. Currently I am working in Southern California for Terminix International. Our family continued to grow until we ended up with nine children, five boys and four girls all about two years apart alternating boy, girl, boy, girl. ll be married on Oct 1, 2010 in the Los Angeles Temple. So it looks like I will miss our 50th class reunion.
My wife and I have been married forty seven years and are now empty nesters living in Lake Elsinore, California. I manage to stay active with family and friends, at home, work and church. I do a lot of driving for my work but still manage to be home every evening. At progressive stages of my life I remember thinking; when I am done with school, stop having children, move to our new home, take that new position, or finish a big project then things will slow down and I can relax. It never happens I just continue to be busy and that is a good thing.
Reading through my Central High School Centralian, 1960 brings back memories and I know I would enjoy seeing my friends especially after reviewing some interesting comments in my year book from those that wished me well. Some wrote, "some luck", "the best of luck", "take it easy", "have fun all your life", "health and happiness", "Live, live, live", "remember me, I will love you forever" (I think a guy wrote that and signed a girl's name).
All my memories are happy ones. I have been blessed to remember the good times and forget the not so good times.
