David's Story
Life
After globetrotting the world, I retired from the Air Force (after 23 years) in 1998. Along the way, I happend to get married and divorced. Have two great kids, Amy, 29 and David Jr, 26. Highlight of my career was living in Holland for seven years (1987-1994). Yes I have my own pair of wooden shoes and love eating cheese. Traveled throughout Western Europe and when the wall came down, made it to several Eastern European countries as well. Completed my Bachelors Degree on the 20 year program and recieved a Master's in Counseling in 2001. I now call Tucson Arizona home. After retirement from the Air Force, I worked 7 1/2 years as a crime victim advocate in the Pima County Attorney's Office. Three weeks after 9/11, I was part of a ten person crisis response team from Arizona sent to NYC to assit victims of the WTC terrorist attack. I also responded to southern Florida to help the victims of Hurricanes Jeanne and Francis. In December 2004, I embarked on a new career, accepting a position with the Department of the Air Force. I'm working as a contract administrator at Davis Monthan Air Force Base here in...Expand for more

Military
Started my career in the United States Air Force two weeks after graduating high school. Went into the Hospital Administration field, specifically, Medical Logistics (supplies and equipment purchasing for you non-military types). Three months later, I was sent on my first assignment some 10,000 miles away from home to a distant land called Turkey. Talk about culture shock for an 18 year old!! Survived and went on to assignments in Alabama, California, Mississippi, Holland, and finally Arizona. Best experience was the 7 years I spent in Holland. I will forever remember the "road trips" to Amsterdam, Heineken Beer, and the incredible Dutch people. I guess Uncle Sam felt I needed one more adventure to the southern US and gave me an assignement to Virginia. Having settled comfortably in Tucson, AZ and having the luxury of over 20 years of service, I told the AF to shove it and retired. It's been ten years now and I have no regrets. All in all, my military experience was great. Having the chance to do it all over again...I would not change a thing. God Bless the United States of America.
