David's Story

Life After graduating 4th Baptist High School, where I met my girlfriend, Moonyeen Bongaards, now wife (Nena as she is now called), she went off to Liberty University in VA, and I followed through on my decision to attend Maranatha Baptist Bible College in WI. I loved my time there, as God placed me with 3 interesting roommates, Kevin Thoman, Phil (white glove inspection fink) forgot last name (sorry), and Peter Wright. Peter invited me to join a male acapella quartet, which I absolutely loved. Unfortunately, I got burnt out and a little whacked out with hyper dramatic fundamentalist notions, and when I returned home at Christmas time, my family, insisted I not return. But my stuff was still there. So my sister and I drove back and retrieved my stuff under cover of darkness (just kidding.) I then decided to follow my heart and attend Liberty U, 1200 miles away from home, which felt like the same distance from home as Maranatha, based on the number of times I went home that first year in each Year, each semester (Zero.) God's sense of humor is amazing. From strict Maranatha, to lenient Liberty, I ended up with 2 graduating seniors, who were, shall we say, less than focused on God and his plan for their lives. They thought they were in for a sweet final semester with just the 2 long time friends, but no, no, no. God dropped in a good conservative Bible-thumping goodie two shoes. (me, if you need a light turned on or if you're wood's wet.) They had 4 in their room, in the first semester. One guy left school, and the other they claimed they drove him out to get married early, because they were so ruthless to him. Well, One, Steve Zeh, remains a friend to this day. He matured, and God he...Expand for more
lped Donna, his wife mature him also. The other, we are both praying for him. Me...I graduated from Liberty with a B.S. in Business Finance, got married to my high school sweetheart, and entered the work force, sheepishly after finding it difficult job market in 1991, right after the first Gulf War and the recession of the late 1980's and early 1990's. I've been laid off 2 times since, due to things we studied about in my business, economics, and finance courses, (thanks for the heads up) and am today continuing to try to figure out what direction to pursue. Along the way, Nena, as she prefers to be called these days, have been blessed with 4 sons. Britt (11), Stewart (9), Johnathan (4), and Evan (10 months). I love it. and BOY is it challenging. For a laid back guy like me, being around this much testosterone is like being back in high school on the soccer and basketball teams at Fourth Baptist. That's about it for now. I can be amaild at a dresz which starts with my first name, followed by an at, followed by my last name, with a dot and a net after it. Get it? I currently have a mac website that I have posted and hope to post other albums to. It's password protected, so email me to get the login and password. God bless you all. He is still blessing me. I can sense it every day, even though it is not the path I had hoped I would have traveled during my younger days. Oh, and about 5, then 4 years ago, I nearly died in a car crash, and the following year from blood clots that traveled into my lungs. And we added Johnathan to the family at that time. Let me tell you...God is in control. I thank and praise him for his peace and provision. I hope you know that peace as well.
