David's Story
I left Akron shortly after graduation, in August 75 for the Air Force. I never expected to be in as long as I was, but I retired from the Air Force 23 years later. For my first three years I was a Security Policeman, and then I became an OSI agent. The Air Force equivalent of the FBI. I spent the next 20 years as an OSI agent. I retired and was immediately hired back as a civilian OSI agent. Over the years later I changed agencies a couple of times to take promotions and better positions and I retired again a couple of years ago and moved to the panhandle of Florida. Along the way I picked up a few degrees, I hold an associates in law enforcement, an associates in occupational instruction, a bachelors in business, and a masters in forensic science. I was an associate professor of forensic science for ten years for George Washington University in Washington, DC. My final posting was with the Office of Export Enforcement where I ran the National Forensic Laboratory and I was the acting Assistant Director for nearly a year. I have two children from my first marriage,...Expand for more
my son lives in Dayton, Ohio and my daughter lives in Lancaster,New Hampshire. My wife Debbie has three girls, All three live in Wilmington, North Carolina. We have 9 grand children. For the past 44 years I have built and flown radio controlled aircraft as a hobby and I now concentrate on giant scale models. These are models that are at a minimum of six and a half feet in wingspan and duplicate a real aircraft. I confine my subjects to WWI and WWII fighters. I travel all around east of the Mississippi to events for competitions and flying these aircraft. We live on 17 acres and don't really have neighbors and the area is mostly wooded or farm land. I enjoy watching the extensive amount of wildlife that wanders around the property. As with a lot of areas in the south we have a problem with wild hogs on the property. In one night a while back, hogs destroyed about an acre of lawn rooting in the dirt searching for grubs. I have around ten deer that visit twice a day to be fed from my deer feeder. We have three cats, all of them named after Harry Potter characters.
