David's Story

I hope my old friends remember me as a fun, caring "Wildman Nerd". I loved being with my friends, going to dances, hiking, water skiing, bicycling, snow skiing, building my V8 Corvair, riding go-karts, welding, fabricating, street racing, boating, golfing, necking, playing pool, swimming, going to rock concerts, watching movies, and eating ice cream creations at Charcoal Pit. My fondest memories were of double dates to go bowling, dancing, hiking, skiing, cruisin', and necking. I didn't drink alcohol or smoke anything in high school; although, I do drink on occassion and did dabble with wacky weed in college. I was addicted to Linda Collat and later Kathy Beattie in high school; in addition to, other crushes before and after them. It hurt when each of them broke-up with me. I guess I was addicted to hugging and kissing and all my puppy love of young naive relationships. I felt like the king of my own little world in high-school. I never have outgrown the thrill of creating new things and modifying cars or other toys. I have lost contact with old friends, but always have fond memories of the computer room crowd and dating. I like to think, I have gotten more considerate in my maturity, and regret any hurts I have caused by my selfishness along the way. I ride my motorcycles year round. I find riding is truely therapeutic, and reminiscent of the miles on bicycles until I got my driver's license at age 16. I have had two divorces, due largely from being immature, selfish, and insensitive. But I have four children, three grandchildren, and a fourth on the way. I do not regret marriage, but I do regret both of my divorces and the mutual errors that led to them. I truely love my children and grandchildren; althoug...Expand for more
h, they do not live near which limits our time together. The beauty of these painful divorce experiences is that they have led me to a growing personal relationship with the Lord Christ Jesus. I marvel every day at the beauty of the world and bask in the grace of God's love as I study to know him better. I support, and am supported by, a large Bible teaching community church. There I have found close friendships like I have not experienced since High School. In August 2007, I joined the "Zipper Club" when I had quadruple-bypass, open-heart surgery. I received more physical support, love, and close fellowship than I could have imagined. I have now recovered and am able to support others as they go through their own life's challenges. What an awesome experience !!!! I recently have started ballroom dancing, hiking, and church activities with the church single adult ministry. It's like starting-off all over again in High School, but on the right foot, as I each learn what it is like to have a dating relationship with purity of action in alignment with biblical direction. It's not easy, but man is it wonderful. So the Wildman is finding his inner Nerd again, only this time a Christ honoring Nerd, while keeping fun, wild activities in my life. I am a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and get wonderful opportunities to share God's love while enjoying biking, spiritual support, and fellowship. If you see me riding this summer, wave or flag me down and say hey. When I'm flying my "colors" look for my street name "V-Rod Dave" above the CMA back-patch, or the "Screaming Eagle V-Rod" tattoo on my right shoulder & bicep. (I ride year round, but you'll be hard pressed to recognize me when I'm all bundled-up.)
