David's Story

Life Life is extremely busy for me now but I must say that life is good. I have been happily married since 1995 to the former Mary Beth Lamb of Wooster, Ohio. Mary is a registered nurse at the local children's hospital in Indianapolis. Mary is now working part time since she is a full time mother of two beautiful daughters with a third daughter on the way. Claire is 5 and just started kindergarten. Colette is 3 and enjoys preschool two days a week. Our next arrival is due in April, 2003. In another area of my life, I have entered the political arena having run for a seat on the Avon Town Council in last May's Republican Primary. I won the primary (178-163) and was unopposed in the most recent general election. I will take office on January 1, 2003 and it promises to be a challenging and exciting time. Avon is a fast growing area just west of Indianapolis and we have many challenges to face in order to manage this growth and maintain quality of life for the residents of this town. School I have so many great memories of my years at Noll that it is hard to capture them all. What I miss most are the retreats and close knit nature of our class and the entire school. I consider myself very fortunate to have made the choice and had the opportunity to attend Noll. I am looking forward to our 20 Year Reunion! College My visit to Wabash College as a high school student convinced me it was the place for me. I have never regretted it and enjoy getting back onto campus when I can. The company I work for (Alcoa CSI) has operations in Crawfordsville which brings me to town on a regular basis. The strong traditions and strong co...Expand for more
mmitment to liberal arts makes Wabash College truly unique. Much of what I experienced at Wabash occurred through my involvement with the TKE House fraternity. Serving as president for three semesters was a challenging and exciting time for me. I also had the chance to travel while at Wabash and studied one semester overseas in Wales, UK. During that semester I had the opportunity to travel around Europe and even spent a week in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia) in 1986 with other American students who also were in Wales. It happened to be the same week as the Chernobyl nuclear accident which made the week more memorable than ever. We were never in any danger being some 500 miles from Chernobyl but we knew little about it during that entire week until the very end of our stay. Our families were worried about us and had no way to contact us or even know if we were safe. They knew more and got news 4 days earlier than we did. This trip to the Soviet Union and the entire semester abroad was undoubtedly the highlight of my college career. Workplace I have been with Alcoa CSI ever since graduating from Wabash. I was originally hired as a Production Supervisor trainee but after just two weeks switched to Information Technology (MIS at the time) and basically turned a hobby of computers into a career. I have been doing various things in IT for the past 15+ years and have loved most every bit of it. My expertise has been in programming, systems analysis, business analysis, data warehouse development and project management. I am currently involved with a global software implementation project that is just getting started.
