David's Story
After graduating from Killian (as a mediocre student at best), I became a career student and received a BA from University of Florida, an MA from Washington University-St Louis, and a PhD from University of Massachusetts- Amherst in Sociology (the "third degree"). Since that time I have been working in the "academy" as a faculty member in sociology and, for much of the time, an academic administrator.

y of New York system before returning to Florida to take a position at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville in 2000. I am a Professor of Sociology.
I was married in 1985 and remain married (no small feat) to Marianne. We have two daughters -- Katy (23) and Anna (20). Given that they are the product of baby-boomer parents -- one of whom is an academic -- it is remarkable that they are relatively well-adjusted emerging adults.
