David Jones:

CLASS OF 1988
Rochester, NY

David's Story

I was probably one of the most "unpopular and popular" people at my school when I attended. Unpopular because I didn't fit in with the "in crowd" and popular because at any given moment, my father would show up in my class and everybody knew when he was there! The best part about it is that if I could go back and change it, I wouldn't change a single thing. I've learned through my life that popularity only does one thing... it's puts more pressure on you to keep up the act and makes it harder to be true to yourself. It also doesn't guarantee your success in life. So, I hope that everyone remembers me at the kid who's father had a tight grip on him and wouldn't let him run with the in-crowd. Because it made me me a very grounded person and an attentive father myself... something I'm proud of. I always wanted to be a Professional baseball player when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a impossible idea. As it turns out, they were only being honest with me. I like to get in my car, no matter the time of day, open my sunroof, get on the expressway and just drive. Sometimes, I don't even pay any attention to where I'm going... I just look forward... and drive. My hero is ...Expand for more
my father and anybody who knows me, knows why. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Cherice Poole, because she's the most honest and sweetest person that God has allowed me to meet in my life. I'm literally obsessed with my 2 daughters (Monique and Jaiden), watching the Yankees, my saltwater aquarium, writing/producing music and my "Triple-Black" BMW. Being a parent has made me realize that I'm not perfect and the best part about that is that my children aren't looking for me to be perfect. At the end of the day, they're just looking for me to be their Father. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to my kids, then spend the rest on my mother, a trust fund and travelling. My best friend would tell you I'm firm but fair, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as difficult and focused only on what I believe in. In 10 years, I hope to be spending my summers at my summer home in Toronto. I'm going to get there by properly managing my real estate investments. I'll never forget the summer that my father and I drove out west to California and we camped out everytime we stopped on the way there. It was the best summer of my life.
