David's Story
It was really interesting see all your names on the class of 1964 list. I can't believe it's been close to 50 years since graduation. Life has been really interesting with some twists that I never imagined would occur. We have 4 boys ranging from 45 to 39 as well as 6 grandkids - one girl, five boys. Laci and Ryan graduated from high school in June 2013 and the others are in 1st to 6th grade.
I taught high school math and business for the last 13 years in Southwick, MA and 6 years ago started teaching an online Entrepreneurship course through Virtual High School. I retired in 2012, but started substituting in the fall of 2013. I've been at the Public Safety Academy, a magnet school in the greater Hartford (CT) area since mid-October 2013. Math is my preferred subject, but right now I'm also teaching Digital Design to (mostly) freshmen. It was nice going back this fall and seeing...Expand for more
how many students had matured, at least somewhat. But progress is progress! I still play the trumpet - Westfield State University Wind Synmphony, the Royal Brass Quintet, the Vineyard Haven Band (Martha's Vineyard) and do some solo work for weddings and church.
The profile picture is from my retirement party June 2012. It has felt a little strange being retired, but I've been able to do lots of "stuff" that I was never able to get to. More traveling is among my favorite activities and last summer we spent a month in Austria visiting places where my wife visited 50 years ago when she spent her junior year studying at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. We also visited friends in Gothenburg Sweden and stopped off in Iceland for four days on the way home.
I'd love to hear what others of you have been doing these last years. I'm also looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion :-).
