David's Story

Current Update - I am nearing the end of my expatriate assignment in France and thinking how different things are going to be when I get back to Houston. For starters, the weekend destinations will be different. This past year we traveled to 12 countries - England, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, The Czech Republic, Hungary, The United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Greece in addition to being in France and the US. I have really enjoyed the time in Europe and the travel to places across Europe and the Middle East. One of our most recent trips was when a couple of the children came to visit - Michael (youngest) and Arisa (oldest) came to visit November. We took them around Normandie then on to Dusseldorf, Germany, took the EuroStar to London, and then spent a couple of days in Paris before they headed home. We made sure to take them to some local places as well as the famous landmarks. They also got to see the student demonstrations and riots in London, which was a bit more exciting than most things on the schedule that day. More to come as things begin to wind down over the next 3 - 6 months.... While in high school I fell in love with computers and technology and the potential it offered to make life easier for others and life more interesting for me. Upon graduation from high school, I enlisted in the U.S. Marines to see the world and whatever it had to offer. I traveled across the United States and Asia. While stationed in Japan for four years, I took advantage of the opportunity to travel to Korea and the Philippines. In the United States, I was stationed in North Carolina, California, and Massachusetts. My occupational specialty in the Marines was that of a combat engineer for the first few years, then I worked in headquarters and service functions my final five years....Expand for more
After leaving the Marines, I moved back to my place of birth and lived in Western NY for 10 years - until I had a great opportunity in Dallas, Texas. While living in the Dallas area, I took a job in Woodcliff Lakes, New Jersey that turned into a transfer to Charlotte, NC. I lived in Charlotte for five years before moving to the Houston area in 2005. I currently live in Le Havre, France, which is a very old port city in Upper Normandie. I still maintain a residence in the Houston area. Actually, my wife maintains the Katy residence and travels from Houston to Paris regularly. I love to travel and my wife and I have been fortunate to travel extensively across Western European. Along the way, I earned a Bachelor's of Sciences in Business Management and raised three wonderful children, who have since grown up - Arisa, David Jr., and Michael. In December 2003, I married my best friend and an amazing woman, Brenda. She and I are members of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and travel several times a year to national car shows (in the US) to judge antique cars. We have three antique cars - a 1949 Kaiser 4-door Sedan we call Crystal because the color of the car is Crystal Green; a 1963 Chevy II SS Convertible (our trailer princess); and a 1972 Corvette that we call Milli because of the color (Milli Miglia Red). We took Crystal to Kansas last year and earned our Grand National First Award. And yes, I own a car with the same name as my last name, although there is no relationship to the company. I consider myself one of the most fortunate people. I have a very supportive and caring family and a wonderful wife and three healthy children. I enjoy going to work each day and live the life we (Brenda and I) used to dream about. I am looking forward to the next chapter....
