David's Story
let's see...after Highschool, and Clark College, while in my senior year, at Columbia River High, I went in the Navy.
I went to the Ridgefield School District for my 1 - 11 years of education. Always a Spudder!!!!
I went to Columbia River High because, Mr. Ball, (principal), He had other plans for me. I could not go to college during my senior year as RHS did not offer that program.
That all behind me without out any anger towards Mr. Ball, he was only doing his job, I did my final year in Columbia River.
I went to Chase Business College, which is gone now.
After finding out Accounting was boring, I went in the Navy. Who would have guessed that the guy that was beat up in school by the jocks, and had to hid from them because they had a point to make, I would end up serving in the Navy and humping a backpack with the Marines for most of my career.
I joined the LDS church after 11 major church attendences and participations. I gained quite a religious knowledge and found my peace in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.
I am not a bible beater, I believe this is a personal choice, but stand ready to share my experience and my search. I have found peace in my heart.
I went to San Diego for boot camp, and Hospital Corp School, San Diego Naval Regional Medical Center. From there I went to FMSS School ( a school for corpsmen that are assigned to the Marines) and graduated a "Doc". ( a term only the Marines call their corpsmen) (and it has spread throught the fleet and other services).
I went to Naval Preventive Medicine School, Oakland, California and became the public health official for many of the units I served in. I was also trained and designated to be a agriculture custom inspector as well. This came in handy when the ships I was on, returned from countries that had restrictions and needing inspections and clearances.
I treated and cured many sailors and marines that for some reason??? got a veneral disease ranging from Gonorrhea to Chancroid, Syphilis, and HIV - Aids.I also provided many hours of pubic health education to the t...Expand for more
roops helping them not get sick from diseases they would be exposed to while being deployed and stationed in the many different places in the world we were going.
I spent the next many years, with the Marines and traveling around camping and all the fun stuff the Marines do. I went to Desert Storm, and many other operations including going to Bangladesh to aid in a huge disaster.
Came back to the US after the "storm" and hit a few Naval Commands. I ended my career in service with the USS Carl Vinson, an aircraft carrier. I was there for 6 years.
During my career, I experienced many things, learned many things, and have many stories to tell. I have met many new and lasting friends, and have fond memories of my "getting beat up" days in HS. Those Beatup days only made me stronger then I ever thought and I used that strength to get through Boot Camp and Field Medical Service School.
I retired a Chief Petty Officer, (E7 initiated) with a proud and humble spot in my heart having given much of my life for the Greatest Country in the World!!!
After that, I went to the Puget Sound Blood Center and worked as a supervisor for the mobile operations on the Kitsap and Olympic Pennisula, Washington State. That was another time in my life where I loved being in service of others.
My health was going south so I had to retire from the work force. I now am a family history consultant in Church, and spend one week a month on the road in my camp trailer traveling my favorite state parks.
I would have not done it any different, I am content with my career and my life's path. All is well.
I look forward to hooking up with more of my past friends, to connect and learn of what my classmates have been doing and share in their life's adventures as well.
I am tired of typing.... I am doing this story as I look out my camper window at the ocean, (Pacific Beach State Park) and enjoying the beauty of this great world.
I have been around the world twice and all over the Pacific Rim countries. Such great rewards and with only a small part from me. Life is Good!
