David's Story
Hello everyone! A lot's happened since 1974. I went to Berkeley, later transfered to Davis and graduated in 1980. Got married. Joined the US Agency for International Development as a Foreign Service Officer in 1981 and got posted to Zaire (Congo) in 1982. Had a daughter (Christi) in 1984. Got divorced in 1989 and remarried later that year to Antoinette (Toni) Ferrara - also a USAID employee - in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa). Had assignments to Burundi, Fiji, Cambodia, and Washington. Resigned from USAID in 2000, went to cooking school, set up a personal chef service, was lured back to the Foreign Service in 2003. Went to Kosovo as Deputy Mission Director i...Expand for more
n 2003. Returned to the States in 2006 and unfortunately lost my father in June 2006. My mom lives in Oakland and my siblings check up on her frequently (most of them live in the Bay Area).
Toni and I will be moving to Budapest, Hungary in September 2008 where I'm being assigned as the Regional Mission Director. We hope to be there for 3-4 years... and possibly retirement for me after that? I'll have nearly 30 years with the US Government by then, so I think I'll be ready to retire. Christi graduated in 2007 from Berkeley and is contemplating her next steps in life.
Life is good and a continually unfolding adventure.
So, what's up with you??? Drop a line!
