David's Story
Life
Life has definitly been an adventure since graduation. It just took so much time to finally grow up. I did work for USAA for 20 years in the printing industry until they decided that out-source was going to be the word of the day. Well we were put out to pasture way before retirement age. I searched the world over and thought I found true love and yes sales became my niche in life. Of course it took two failed marriages and 3 children to get to this point in life. I am now living the life of a single, happy, busy man. I spend alot of my time with my youngest son. We go to movies, spurs games, vacations, and just all around fun time. I don't have a very happy or close family life any more, just some of the injuries on the battle field of life. But,over all life is good, I also work with a band on the week-ends, running sound for them. Sundays are for Bar-b-ques and beer and Mon-Fri are for working out and selling. I don't usually think about my days in high school, except when Fiesta week comes along. I am still very much involved in music and now my most exciting hobby is cooking. I actually began cooking because my first wife couldn't cook to save her own life. Throught out the years and many corrected mistakes I have found that this has become a true talent. Ask my over weight friends (just kidding). I just feel so comfortable in the kitchen. I am ready for the upcoming holidays, time to get back to work. Of course music will always be the biggest part of my life. I will never give up the trumpet and now my son is taking up the trumpet.
School
Wow, this is crazy, to bring up all those old memories. I do remember a fantastic girl named Janette Almaguer. She was difinitly the one girl I had a crush on my senior year. But before that I had eyes for Mary Miranda, wow what a babe. I just wished I had been more mature. Band, was...Expand for more
where I spend most of my time, even though I wasn't that good. I did have fun playing and getting out of class. I do try to forget the bad memories, so I won't mention them. There were a few. I guess having a dean of boys did help us get through our high school years with out all the problems kids have today. I'm trying to think of the teacher that had the most profound impact on my life. He was a history teacher, and thought he was the greatest, I learned so much from him. I guess old age is getting me, I can't remember his name. I just remembered he was let go just when things were getting good. His name is Mr. Bouhey, not sure of the spelling, I know a lot of kids back then who dispised this man, but he was really my best teacher. Of course there was Dale Schultz, the band director. Wow, what a director, he ended up becoming band director for Churchill and took them to State and won.
Workplace
Work, what a way to live life, I guess it beats living under a bridge. I have had many jobs in my life time of work. My first job out of high school I ended up getting fired. I had started working for the city as a meter reader and hated every minute of it. I guess I just wasn't ready for working full time. My dad was really pissed at me, so by the time he found out I was already working for Dietz McClean Optical. I worked in the lab as a technician. That is when I started going to SAC at nights. It was also during that time I started working week-ends with Dicso Charlie as a DJ. I ended up at USAA where I spent 20 years of my adult life. During that time I worked several part time jobs. I did everything from DJ, bartending, bouncer, cleaning buildings, Bill Millers, HEB, and even worked on two movie sets. So my work life has never been boring. I am now in sales and meeting new people is just great, especially the ones that buy from me.
