David's Story
The summer I graduated from High School, I met my wife-to-be, Darlene Lykins at our French Club Swim Party. Interestingly enough, she came there as a date of Larry Numerick. Thanks Larry!
At any rate we both went to Marshall and got married in my senior year there. We have 4 beautiful children, 1 boy and 3 girls and we also have 6 wonderful grandchildren.
I worked for INCO in Huntington for 7 years before going to Pennsylvania to start up a new company for them. While there I got my CPA certificate, although I never really used it. Anyway, I retired with INCO after 30 years, took a year off, then started working again, this time for the county as a Fiscal Officer. After the children left home (for the first time!) Darlene went back to school and got a second teaching certificate and has been teaching now for 11 years in both the High School and Elementary School here in PA.
I've often thought about High School and have many fond memories of it. I didn't have a lot of what I would call close friends but those I did have I cherish even today even though I may not have kept touch with them.
I've had an interesting ride through life. I've been successful, however, you define that, in business...Expand for more
. I've got a beautiful and loving wife of 41 years now. My children have been a blessing though filled with many, many troublesome times. All of them continue to walk with the Lord except for my prodigal son - but, one day, he too will return to the Father.
I was a lay pastor for a church for about 8 years. During this time I lived through more highs and lows that only Wall Street could appreciate.
I've tried my whole life to live for my heavenly Father - I've not always been a very good son myself - but my goal is to FINISH WELL. Jesus has taught me the joy and freedom that comes with forgiving those who have hurt me or ones that I love and is stirring in me a real compassion for people, something I've not had a great abundance of in my life.
I would love to hear from those of you who knew me in high school, even if we weren't close friends or maybe friends at all. So many of you I knew by sight or name but never really got to know personally.
I've kind of rambled all over the place here but that's ok. I shared with you what is important to me, maybe you will take the time to do the same with me. Enjoy this day - at our age we likely have far fewer ahead than we have had in the past!
